Rhinoceros. There are five species of rhinos, three in Asia and two in Africa, and all of them are either endangered or vulnerable according to the IUCN. Very few rhinos survive outside national parks and reserves due to persistent poaching and habitat loss over many decades. Wildlife crime focused on poaching and illegal trafficking of rhino horn continues to plague these species. The major demand for rhino horn is in Asia, where horns are used in ornamental carvings and traditional medicine. By weight, horns cost as much as gold on the black-market.
